Location: Trafford Park, Manchester
An excellent opportunity for a strong developer to join Behrens Group, an established group of trading companies, as an in-house developer and a key part of a growing business systems function. You'll work closely with senior management and departments across the business, with real ownership over ERP development, integrations and automation. Based in Manchester, with excellent benefits and career opportunities.
The Role
- Customise, configure and maintain our ERP system to meet business needs.
- Design, develop and maintain custom ERP solutions, integrations and extensions — plus wider internal business applications (integrations across ERP, Shopify, logistics and customer portals).
- Automate business processes and reduce manual effort through well-designed technical solutions.
- Work closely with departments to translate business requirements into practical, scalable technical designs.
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting and training to end-users.
- Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude, Copilot) as a core part of day-to-day work — for code generation, refactoring, documentation, testing and research.
- Ensure data integrity, security and efficiency within the ERP and connected systems.
- Create and maintain system documentation, workflows and training materials.
- Stay current with ERP developments and emerging AI capabilities, and implement best practice.
Skills Required
- Proven experience as a developer.
- Development experience in C#/.NET/Java (or similar object-oriented languages).
- Experience with SQL and database management, including writing queries and understanding database design.
- Already using AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude) in your day-to-day work.
- Proficient in creating reports and navigating data.
- Strong understanding of business processes and ERP systems integration.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Can work independently, take ownership and explain what you're doing to non-technical colleagues.
Desirable Skills
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, IT or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Working knowledge of Intact iQ or any other ERP system(s).
- Front-end experience, including CSS and web UI development.
- Exposure to Microsoft Azure, including Azure Functions, Logic Apps and/or AI services.
- Experience going beyond day-to-day AI-assisted coding — e.g. building or integrating AI/automation features into business tools.
Full-time, office-based in Manchester. As the role and team grow, we may introduce more flexibility over time, potentially including hybrid working.
